Recent lockdown and post-lockdown happenings
It’s been a long period of lockdowns over the past 9 months but I’ve been able to remain somewhat active. Since this post is a little (a lot) overdue, I’ll share a few things that have happened below…
Out Of Your Head Records released a live set by a quartet I play bass in with, Jonathan Goldberger-guitar, Mat Maneri-viola and Gerald Cleaver-drums, it’s here
The great bassist Miles Perkin and I released a duo EP I play guitar on. It’s here…
I released a digital only solo recording, it was made on my iphone(5!)
Lukas Akintaya released his new album on Chris Speed’s Skirl Records, it’s here…https://lukasakintaya.bandcamp.com/album/hues We played a release show at A-Trane in Berlin, it’s still online here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZKKk7tMfGg&t=209s
I played a really fun piano trio gig in Cologne recently with pianist Julius Windisch and drummer Leif Berger. While I don’t love the DI’d bass sound I do love Julius and Leif’s playing and Julius’ writing
I got to spend some time in Belgium recording a new album with Joachim Badenhorst’s Carate Urio Orchestra. I play guitar and bass on it. What a band! Here is a set we played…
I was invited to play 2 sets at A-Trane as part of the Jazz Aus Berlin series, they are still online here, 1 set with where I played guitar with Cansu Tanrikulu, Nick Dunston and Lukas Akintaya and one set on bass with Anna Webber and Devin Gray
Things that are happening
It's a very strange time in the world. I hope you are all safe and healthy.
After 11 years in NYC, I'm about to spend some time in Europe. From this August onward, I’ll be based in Berlin!
